There are various ways - and combinations of them - to secure your property. One well-known one is, of course, the alarm system. It often contains both visible and hidden components. But how does an alarm system work? What does it consist of and what is its exact purpose? We list it all for you:

  • Central computer: An alarm system involves a central computer, which is placed in the meter box or another central location. You can think of this as the connection system between all the components, such as sensors, security cameras and the monitoring station. Nowadays, it is often replaced by an app. Does your system use cables? Then the central computer is also responsible for powering the sensors.
  • Control panel: this can take various forms these days. All notifications come in on this and the entire system can be switched on and off with it. Do malfunctions occur on your telephone and/or internet connection or does the power fail? Then you will also receive such messages via this panel. These days, a smart device can completely or partially replace the control panel.
  • Motion detector: in all rooms where this device is installed, it detects movements. As soon as this happens, the motion detector makes a notification to the central computer. At alarmsysteemexpert you can find motion detectors from Jablotron, among others.
  • Magnet contact: a smart way to secure windows and doors. One part is located on the door or window itself and the other on the frame. As soon as the portal is opened, a signal goes out immediately to the central computer. Your Ajax alarm system can be expanded with various wireless magnetic contact models characterised by their easy installation.
  • Trill sensor: This detects 'unusual' movements. That is, opening a window or door in the usual way will not raise dust. But if a window is smashed, it immediately sends a notification to - you guessed it - the central computer, allowing you to react to the situation immediately.
  • Siren: Actually, this part needs no explanation. Both local residents and yourself are immediately notified when a burglary occurs.
  • Outdoor detection: an example of an efficient - but relatively expensive - system to detect the presence of intruders as quickly as possible. Consider both the classic infrared beam interrupting and, for example, ground detection which, as the name gives away, is placed in the ground. When more or less pressure is applied to this than usual, your alarm system is immediately notified.
  • Security camera: Both inside and outside your business premises or home, you can hang cameras that provide razor-sharp images via an IP camera of your immediate surroundings. Of course, you can react directly to the events as they are displayed but they are also designed to recognise intruders and facilitate detection. Thanks to IP camera surveillance from the likes of Dahua and Hikvision, you can view images from your security system anytime, anywhere.
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detector: the name actually says it all right away. This component signals when there is a fire hazard.

For each item, you can quickly and efficiently read off all the properties in our clear way! So you will know exactly whether and how to add it to your alarm system.

When you have read through the above, you actually know exactly how a wireless alarm system works. The big difference with mounted systems is that the components of wireless Alarmanlage work on batteries and yes, you will have to replace them after a while. As such, that is the only drawback to it: as soon as the batteries start to run out and new ones are needed, you will be notified immediately. Wireless Alarmanlage , besides a general lack of cables, is also characterised by its relatively easy installation.

How long does a wireless alarm system last?

Now you know how an alarm system can secure your home or property. But exactly how long does a wireless alarm system last? This depends on several factors, but most batteries last 1 to 1.5 years more. After that, they need to be replaced. Some batteries last up to 5 years, but this varies from system to system. In addition, proper maintenance is a factor in the lifespan of Alarmanlage. Are the components all still working? Are the lenses of your Hikvision Turbo camera surveillance still giving a sharp image? Do sensors need to be checked or does the software need an update? The latter is very important in our current digital age. Similarly, you want to be sure that new cameras can be connected to your old security system. This won't be much of a problem with our handy Dahua HDCVI camera surveillance. The digital cameras namely connect to your analogue system and still give a perfect image!

At alarmsysteemexpert , we highly recommend getting to know your alarm system well and keeping an eye on software and hardware developments. That way, you will know immediately whether your security system needs an update or replacement.
