Standardly, all alerts from your system come in on your own smartphone, and possibly the smartphones of your friends or family. In response to incoming alarms, you take action yourself!
If you are unable to respond to burglar alarms yourself, and also all your contacts are out of reach, then it may be interesting to pay monthly for an alarm center.
An emergency room responds to almost every notification. We say almost, because there are rules associated with whenan emergency room may call the police.
Is an emergency room of interest to you?
The need for an emergency room depends greatly on your profession and self-reliance. As long as someone can respond to any notifications themselves, then the need is less and even response time slows down. If you yourself receive the notification on your smartphone and you see someone on the camera who does not belong there then call the police immediately yourself!
Know what a monitoring station does when your alarm goes off.
There are different rules about how an emergency room should respond to an alarm. By default, the owner is always called first.
If the control room does not get a connection with the owner, it is important to know what then is the response of the control room. Will nothing be done, or will the police be called? And does it matter if only one detector has detected movement, or do multiple detectors have to go into alarm before an alarm center is allowed to call the police? All questions you need answers to before entering into a long-term contract.
There are also often additional conditions attached to the monitoring center subscription in the form of a maintenance contract for your system. This is because the control room does not want to receive unnecessary notifications of system maintenance that needs to be performed, which is why a maintenance contract with an installer alongside it is often mandatory.
So decide carefully for yourself whether two additional subscriptions, to which you are often tied for 3 years, are worth being called by an alarm center in the event of a burglary.
